Halloween

Our synchronized strides, not part of the plan
My arm brushing yours, not an accident
Black lipstick and plastic masks
Fake blood and real blisters
Our lungs filled with smoke and the air filled with maybes
Cold but not so cold
Feet sweeping – not crunching – the leaves
Flask half empty when you (finally) took my hand
